I am interested in subterranean community ecology, biology, and taxonomy. In particular, I am interested in subterranean amphibians. I have been studying the ecology of Ozark blind cave salamanders, Eurycea spelaea, for approximately 9 years and have been working on clarifying the systematics of the E. spelaea complex with Dr. R. Bonett. I also work with groundwater salamanders in Texas in collaboration with Dr. A. Gluesenkamp, Dr. P. Chippindale, and K. Roelke. I contract with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to monitor endangered stygobite populations in the Ozarks and still contribute to bioinventory work in the Ozarks and Arbuckles (in Oklahoma) for the Subterranean Biodiversity Project, Dr. G.O. Graening, and M. Slay. I am also involved in work with North American stygobitic fishes with M. Niemiller, Dr. G.O. Graening, and Dr. T. Poulson.
